Sustainable, Renewable, and Green Initiatives
Fairfield and Woods represents emerging and established companies active in the development and use of renewable energy resources and complying with voluntary and mandated sustainable and 'green' processes. Our long experience in this area is timely as Colorado becomes a leader in government-backed initiatives supporting the use of wind and solar generated electric power and bio-fuels.
We are deeply involved in client and trade group activities in the areas of biofuels research and production, wind and solar energy production and transmission, green construction and retrofitting of buildings, recycling of organic and inorganic materials, brownfields remediation, mass transit oriented development and many other activities associated with a 'post carbon' economy. We also represent the more traditional producers of energy and minerals in the Rocky Mountains and, among other things, provide advice and support concerning their efforts to streamline operations and reduce their impact on the environment.

These include representation before legislative and administrative bodies engaged in legislation, rulemaking and adjudication; licensing and permitting by federal, state and local governments; obtaining environmental approvals and compliance; advice concerning real estate and construction, including land use, eminent domain, and green certification; federal, state and local tax compliance and disputes, including property, sales and use tax appeals and the use and transfer of tax credits; business and project finance, including equity, debt, and government and nonprofit grants; intellectual property creation, protection, and disputes; employment issues; technology transfer and licensing; representation in public policy forums; commercial contracting; and general litigation.
