Litigation
We have broad and deep experience before state and federal courts and administrative agencies in commercial litigation of all types, from complex multi-party cases requiring a team of experienced courtroom litigators to small cases which can be handled by a single associate attorney.
We litigate in all areas in which the Firm practices, including: breach of contract or warranty, partnership or shareholder disputes, recovery of property and money owed, water rights and water quality, patent, trademark and copyright, real estate, director liability, lender liability, bankruptcy and receiverships, employment, unfair competition and trade secrets, environmental, insurance defense and coverage, bad-faith breach of insurance contracts, construction, landlord and tenant, product liability, class actions, professional liability, constitutional issues, oil and gas and other natural resources, securities, qui tam, whistleblower, health care and health care fraud, and tax disputes.
Litigation is one means of solving a client's problems. The Firm has represented clients in various mediations and arbitrations, which can be very cost effective. We work closely with our clients to balance the need for zealous representation with the need to reduce expense. From the early investigation stages through discovery, settlement negotiations, trial, and appeal, we work to accomplish the client's goals as favorably and efficiently as possible.
We are very conscious of concerns about the high cost of litigation. We attempt to minimize the expense of litigation whenever we can, without sacrificing the quality of representation. We do so in part by selecting the right attorney(s) to handle the litigation, and by utilizing experienced and efficient legal assistants for document management and other appropriate tasks during the litigation process.
