Harlan P. Pelz is a trial lawyer who has devoted over thirty years litigating in state and federal courts. He also devotes a portion of his practice to commercial and residential real estate matters and business transactions. Harlan handles complex commercial litigation matters in trial courts and arbitration forums both here in Colorado and in other jurisdictions. He is widely known for his successful pursuit of misappropriation of trade secret claims on behalf of owners of geophysical and geological data used in the oil and gas industry.
As part of his representation of owners of geophysical and geological data, Harlan assists businesses engaged in the licensing of trade secrets particularly geophysical and geological data in the oil and gas industry. He represents these clients in Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas. As part of his personal injury practice Harlan has extensive experience representing individuals who have been exposed to toxic levels of carbon monoxide.
Harlan also represents a wide variety of individuals and entities in many other areas of the law including construction defects, securities, personal injury, real estate and business organizations. He also represents merchant service providers in the credit card processing industry here in Colorado and in other jurisdictions.
Harlan was born in Algona, Iowa and lived in Charles City, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa. He then served in the U.S. Navy before attending law school at the University of Denver. He enjoys flying his airplane, biking, golf and scuba diving. Harlan is an avid photographer and enjoys travel with his family.
