John A. Eckstein focuses upon the general representation of technology-based companies and venture capital funds, investors, investment bankers, financial advisors, and financial institutions. He works often with complex legal structures in entity and project financings. His legal training is in securities, tax, finance and corporate law. He also provides advice regarding finance and governance matters to individual officers and directors of such companies. He is interested in the application of technology to the business of energy and is actively involved in legal and public policy aspects of energy, biomedical, and IT/software.

John was chair of the Board of Commissioners, the Colorado Advanced Technology Institute (CATI), in 1994 and 1995 (CATI was a state agency involved in economic development and technology transfer). He has been chair of the Colorado Biotechnology-Medical Technology Roundtable and president of both the Colorado chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the Denver chapter of the Licensing Executives Society. John has been listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Colorado Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Black Book, and Who’s Who in High Tech in Denver/Boulder.

John is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, ODK, and Phi Delta Phi. He is immediate past chair of the national award-winning Professionalism Coordinating Council of the Colorado Bar Association and is a member of the CBA Board of Governors. He also serves on several trade association boards.

Born in Iowa City, Iowa, John enjoys golf, skiing, malted beverages, and family activities. He has recently been on the boards of the Foundation of Sacred Art, The Spirituals Project, the "World Beer Cup" and the "Great American Beer Festival."
